Could you help me with a little Witness history ?

as part of a student film project that i am completing i will be conducting a telephone interview with an exjw tomorrow.. the person i am interviewing was a witness between the years of the 50's (born in) - late 80's so obviously would have been in their late teens for the prophecies and events of 1975.. as this person is older than i, i am plan to tailor my questions around being a witness in that time period.

i just wonder if you could point me in the direction of any more date specific events surrounding this time period that i could touch upon in my interview ?.

!986 could get honorable mention because they made a BIG deal about the "international year of peace" that the UN declared. There was an awake magazine with a dove on the cover as I recall. It highlighted that the cry for "peace and security" may be at hand because of it. That was a big deal for some but 1975 was the big one for that time. For so long expectation had been built up for 1975 that there was no need for any other dates for the 50's and 60's. Afterwards they have stopped speaking in specifics, just generalities. The computation wing of the WT has closed down. They are back to "Soon", instead of a "when" time frame. Just find the stats for the 1976 and you'll see just how big a disappointment it was. It was no small amount that quit the organization. Any other pivotal dates were the usual 1914, 1918, 1919, 1925, 1948 and of course 1975.

Need Help, what do you do when Elders try to bully you and your family with Lies and threats? I am inactive and hate them now!

i have a elder trying to screw with me because he protects pedophiles and claims they can be rehabilitated.

he's doing his jw attacks while nobody is around because he knows he can lie about me and my family even if there are three witnesses the jw elders don't do squat!

they cower because all the elders are terrified of this bully, he brags about how great his business is but i know so many secrets about him and his wife.

Of course you are welcome here. You know the drill. He is an elder and has that stature which he can wield against you. If you have two witnesses of his wrongdoing that are ready to accuse him then by all means bring the info out against the jerk. If not, you are asking for a reverse attack that will get you in hot water. As for your wife and lost wages, you now know to "get it in writing". If its not in writing it didn't happen unless you have two witnesses to the agreement and a way to prove the payment wasn't made. I'm afraid its not very promising. The best thing you can do is choose to fade, DA or be disfellowshiped. Seek peace and ditch the jerk, just avoid his ass if you cannot do battle successfully.

I know that doesn't make him crazy, but, have you found many JW's to be unreasonable about western medicine, viewing it as a plot? and that the "Natural" way is the only way? This brother rejected a transfusion in the hospital. Well, he died faithful right, lol. Sometimes JW medicine deniers seem about as mentally stable as this whack job. Your thoughts?

Wife fully awake.

i learned this past week that my wife is now awake.

i just shared the pbs newshour segment with her with no comment other than something along the lines of, "jw story on pbs.".

she is furious at the arrogance of these men.. thats what happens when you get a momma angry!.

Memorial Talks

remember memorial talks would highlight the numbers of anointed alive on earth was in a steady decline?

Short version: Dropped doctrine that door was shut to anointed in 1935/38. Not all are replacements but probably are. Number means nothing anymore. There ya go. They have no problem dumping doctrines they would executed you for not believing previously when IT was "Noo Light."

Why do I suddenly want to start reading JW literature and going to Kingdom Halls?

is good calling me back or am i just letting my emotions get the best of me?also i really want to be closer to my jw family.

btw i was never baptized and i consider myself a born again christian i go to a baptist church and wath televangelist and i have expirenced gods presence like never before but sometimes i get fearful and think "what if jws are right and i'm wrong" than i'm screwed!but if there wrong and i'm right it doesn't look to good for them.. i would prefer if nobody posted "god isn't real" type comments.

i truly believe he is real but i respect why some are atheists..

Has anybody been guilted/emotionally blackmailed into attending the 2015 Memorial?

hello everybody, i was wondering if anyone has been guilted or emotionally blackmailed into attending the memorial this year.

something along the lines of "if you loved your family you would at least attend the memorial".

i myself haven't attended in 5 years.

No. They always hope that the memorial, which is the closest thing to a mystical/spiritual experience for JW's, will touch your heart and motivate you to become "active" again. haven't been to one in 10 years. Would rather have my fingernails torn out.

Who exactly is an apostate?

if you studied with them and rang the logical fallacy buzzer for chits and giggles to see how they would react does this make you an apostate?.

if you are a born in who never got baptised does this make you an apostate?.
